Realtors Community Foundation
The Realtors Community Foundation gave us $10,000 to help us with our A Kitchen to Cook In project. While we and many other social agencies rightly focus on providing food security and housing for the unfortunate among us, overlooked are the housewares needed to cook, serve and consume food. Too often only processed foods that can be eaten directly out of a can or package become the mainstays for families that we help. Our project provides the kitchen utensils needed for a basic kitchen for a family of four. Simply having enough plates, cutlery and cooking utensils not only improves the quality of the at-home eating experience for our families in need, but having appropriate kitchen utensils improves nutritional uptake. Without these basic essentials to prepare a meal, families too often end up purchasing more expensive and less nutritious fast foods. Thank you for helping us support our Friends-in-Need in having housewares to cook, serve, and consume food at home!

SSVP Edmonton relocated our Distribution Centre to a much-needed larger space in 2023. However, it was difficult for some volunteers to use the stairs to access the second floor, especially if they had to move heavy boxes. In 2024 this program provided $41,767 toward the purchase and installation of an elevator. Thank you for enhancing accessibility for our volunteers!

This $100,000 grant is being expensed over 2 years. In 2025 $44,687.69 was spent on the purchase of tablets, internet plans, and development for the conferences to use in place of the old system of pens and forms. Thank you for helping us improve our efficiency!

Community Initiatives Program
Project-based grant of $50,000 is being expensed over 2 years: $26,250 was spent in 2025. Funds are being used for development of the CAMS database system used by conferences to record details of their services to friends in need. Thank you for helping us modernize our data collection system and make it more secure!

Volunteers at the SSVP Clothing Room hate to turn away anyone in need, particularly children who don't have the proper clothing for the cold Edmonton winter. In 2024 the Allard Foundation provided $15,000 toward the purchase of winter clothing. Thank you for helping to keep our friends warm!

Provided $6,000 in grants plus volunteer help in support of the Weekender Program and 'smalls' (household items) for our friends in need. The benefactors prefer not to be named. Thank you for helping us to feed hungry kids and deliver life essentials!

Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton - Together We Serve
Together We Serve is an annual appeal in the parishes of the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton. In 2023 the Archdiocese agreed to add Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Edmonton Central Council to the list of beneficiaries of this campaign. Thanks to this generous outreach, the Society received $74,226 in 2024. These funds are used to provide leadership and support to 20 local conferences, serving over 7,000 people in need in our communities each year, To learn more about Together We Serve, visit caedm.ca/togetherweserve. Donations can be made through your parish or through the archdiocesan website. Special thanks to Archbishop Richard Smith for your support of our efforts toward sustainable funding!

A $15,000 grant from the City of Edmonton helped cover operating costs at our Distribution Centre, where donated or purchased goods are prepared for delivery to those in need. Thank you for helping us help over 14,000 people in 2024!

Groceries are only useful if you have a way to prepare and serve them. A $10,000 grant from the Edmonton Civic Employees helped us purchase “smalls,” which are household items such as dishes, utensils, toasters, and pots and pans. Thank you for helping our neighbours prepare meals for their families!

Trained volunteers at the Distribution Centre use a forklift to move heavy items such as furniture. However, the gas fumes from our old forklift were creating a health hazard for other volunteers, so the Edmonton Community Foundation stepped in with $50,000 for the purchase of an electric model. Thank you for helping us maintain a cleaner, more environmentally friend space!

Loading and unloading our delivery trucks is hard work, especially when it comes to heavy boxes and large pieces of furniture. A $15,000 grant from the Edmonton Community Foundation enabled SSVP to install a mechanical lift on one of the trucks to make the job much easier. Thank you for easing the load on our volunteers!

Students do better when they have a good night’s sleep and a place to do homework. A $22,400 grant from the Edmonton Public Teachers Charity Trust Fund enabled us to provide children’s beds, desks and chairs to our neighbours in need. Thank you for helping to furnish kids’ bedrooms!
